Questions & troubleshooting

Yes. The MCP server connects to your existing Actvian workspace. If you don’t have one yet, sign up first — then connect your assistant here. The tools act on your real Actvian data.

The server uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE and dynamic client registration. You sign in with your normal Actvian account in a browser popup and explicitly approve access — your assistant never sees your password, and access can be revoked at any time. Every tool call is authenticated with a short-lived bearer token.

Read tools only fetch context (like listing meetings or searching follow-ups). Write tools take action on your behalf (scheduling a reminder, resolving a follow-up). Your assistant asks before doing anything consequential.

That only applies to stdio-only MCP clients bridging via mcp-remote (see the "Other MCP clients" tab above) — it needs Node.js installed, which includes npx. Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Claude Code, and Claude.ai all connect directly and don’t need it.

Make sure you completed the browser sign-in and approved access — the connection isn’t active until then. Fully restart the app, and confirm the server URL is exactly https://actvian.com/ari/mcp. In Claude Code, run /mcp to re-check the status.

Yes — ChatGPT supports MCP via Developer Mode (available on Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, and Edu plans). Enable Developer Mode in Settings → Security & login, add a new app with the Actvian server URL, choose OAuth, and sign in with your Actvian account. The setup tab above walks through each step.
